Stand up comedy show featuring Ricky Melton telling his stories, jokes & singing his dirty country music songs!
Recently dubbed by a fan as “a mix between Rodney Carrington & Wheeler Walker Jr.”, Ricky Melton is quickly becoming one of the most talked about touring comedians on the road today. An absolute force on stage, his act is equal parts comedy, music & absurdity.
For nearly 15 years Ricky has been making audiences around the country laugh with his stories of growing up in the “not best” circumstances, falling in (and very much OUT) of love & even the occasional witness of a murder. All of his stories are true AND all are set to the soundtrack of Ricky playing his guitar and singing his original and outlandish country music songs that are sure to bring a smile to your face. Well, bring a smile to your face if you are not uptight and/or bashful around dirty words.
As the opening act for Artie Lange on his 2017/2018 theater tour, Ricky has performed at some of the country’s finest venues, as well as some of the countries worst venues, and everywhere in between.
Ricky has been featured on TMZ after a fight with the late actor/comedian Dustin Diamond (Screech from TV’s Saved by the Bell) that involved Dustin drinking Ricky’s bodily fluids (long story, don’t ask). He has also made an appearance on DirecTV and has been a guest on several podcasts/radio shows, as well as hosting his own podcasts (Alt Right Libtards & Comedy Karaoke). He was the creator and host of the game show “Win 2 Lo$e: A Dirty Game Show”.

Aaron Jonah Lewis
Champion fiddler Aaron Jonah Lewis has been elbow-deep in traditional American fiddle and banjo music since their first lessons at the age of five with Kentucky native Robert Oppelt. Lewis has taken blue ribbons at the Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, WV, and at the Old Fiddlers Convention in Galax, VA, the oldest and largest fiddlers convention in the country. They are also noted for their mastery of multiple banjo styles. They spend most of their time teaching and touring--as a solo performer, with Ragtime Banjo Revival, the Corn Potato String Band, and other projects.
Lewis has appeared on dozens of recordings from bluegrass and old time to traditional jazz, contemporary experimental and Turkish classical music projects. They have taught workshops at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and at the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London. They also play and teach banjo, mandolin, and guitar and are currently based in Detroit.
Aaron Jonah Lewis is passionate about sharing early fingerstyle banjo music. They bring light to the fact that classic banjo was the most popular form of music a hundred years ago, though today it’s almost entirely forgotten. They are “trying to keep (classic banjo) alive and spread it around, as it’s a delightful style that brings joy and connects us to the depth of our shared American history.”
Cory Grinder and The Playboy Scouts
Cory Grinder and the Playboy Scouts, a 2023 nominee for Ameripolitan Honky Tonk Band of the Year, more than exemplify their Playboy Scout oath of “On my honor I will do my duty to Two Step Dancers and Honky Tonkers everywhere.” The band, who play original country tunes inspired by artists like Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, formed in the Cleveland-Akron area in 2016. Since then, the band has taken to the road and toured through half of the country. They are affectionately known for their blue bus and encouraging others to join their troop. The band has an exciting live show that is quite adaptable to any setting. They are more than at home playing dancehalls for two steppers and aren’t afraid to turn it up at a rowdy bar gig. Frontman and songwriter, Cory Grinder leads the group on guitar and fiddle with his commanding voice that pairs well with that of pedal steel player and fellow founding member of the band, Tebbs Karney. The rhythm section of the band is well equipped with Steve Kessler on Drums and Alex Buchanan on bass. Virtuoso guitarist Anthony Papaleo adds another great voice and splits fiddle duty with Grinder. Following the release of their debut album (Cahoots & Other Favorites) in 2018, the band has signed to Blue Arrow Records and released two more full length albums (“Honky Tonkin’ Beauty Supreme” & “Snacks”) along with a slew of other material. Fans are anticipating the announcement of their next album which is expected to come out in 2025. The band has also continued to establish themselves in places across the country like Tennessee, Texas, California, and more. “We love taking our brand of country music around the nation and we sure hope you’ll join us at a show soon! Ask me for a dance!” - Cory Grinder

Shelby Olive
Shelby Olive has been making waves in Northeast Ohio for over a decade now. She writes earworm melodies with thoughtful storytelling, exploring themes of love, self-discovery, and personal growth. In 2015, Shelby faced a life-changing vocal cord surgery. She turned to songwriting as a means of healing and made music to get her through. Shelby writes music to help people feel less alone-- whatever they're going through. By day, she's a public school music teacher; by night, she channels her "inner popstar"...very Hannah Montana.
In 2018, Shelby Olive released her debut album, Make Sound, which garnered support from audiences throughout Ohio. It also began her close relationship with local radio station, 91.3 The Summit. She captured the attention of listeners with her viral 2021 single, "Nothing Wrong With Me." She's garnered almost 20K followers on TikTok making content about her music and vocal health journey. Shelby has opened for quite a few national acts including Dermot Kennedy, Ian McConnell, Maggie Rose, and Danielle Ate the Sandwich. She's played her original music with the Canton Symphony Orchestra and has been featured at multiple 330 Day Showcases with 91.3 The Summit. Currently, Shelby Olive is hard at work on her sophomore album, Brace for the Changes, produced by Wes McCraw. This ambitious three-part project dives into all the "life" stuff that she faced in the last year. A cancer scare, death of a grandparent and two of her childhood dogs, and almost losing her mom-- she learned pretty quickly that the only constant in life is CHANGE. This album has been a labor of love as she navigated her mental health along the way. You can listen to Part One and Part Two now on your preferred streaming platform, and Brace for the Changes (Part 3) will be released this summer.

Blue Radio
Blue Radio began 65,000,000 years ago in the Cretaceous period when their space ship crashed violently into the earth. The resulting sound gave them the idea for rock and roll music, which they started to slowly perfect over the millennia. They were also inspired by the great taste of dinosaur, but they foolishly hunted and barbecued these magnificent animals to extinction. After millions of years of writing and rehearsing, Blue Radio finally released their debut album, Famous Fellow Losers, in 2019. Unfortunately, while promoting the album, Blue Radio tore a hole in the fabric of this dimension and were sucked into a different reality. Before they were able to return home, they were declared Fugitives of Rock and had to go on the lamb. Eventually, the members had to separate and assume new identities. Their second album, The Good Times, was written after the band's lead guitarist, Sam, fraudulently became president of a tropical island paradise. The Good Times was recorded in secret in 2020 and released in this dimension in 2022. Recent radio activity in this dimension has indicated that Blue Radio may have successfully returned to home. This is, however, unconfirmed.

Andrew Lee
I am Andrew Lee (Tapioca), I have had a profound love of music that slowly drifted away in my early 20's. It laid dormant for years until covid forced me to come to grips with my mortality and pursue the dreams I had as a child. I play a mix of covers, that I bend to fit me, with a few original songs peppered throughout sets. I dabble in disappointment, regret, and time lost as themes, for my original music. But i also have a goofy song about my cat, to help rise out of the darkness. My influences range from Iron Maiden to Fiona Apple to Sinead O'connor to The Joy Division and I'm a fan of making new wave 80s music my own..

Long Time Gone returns to the Rialto Theatre to help celebrate their 10 year anniversary. We've been with them for 8 of those years so please, come help us celebrate. If you have never been there you especially need to go to this beautiful, intimate center for the performing arts in the Akron/Kenmore area. It's a matinee so you are home for the evening or, better yet, time to go out for another great show. Both the kitchen and the bar are open so grab a bite, have a beer, and enjoy the sounds of an era of great music and musicians.
Long Time Gone is a band that specializes in the music of four people: David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young. Separately and together.
Fancy Legs
Reuniting for the first time since 2020 in honor of The Rialto's 10th birthday, Fancy Legs is a Rock n' Roll musical group with power pop and new wave tendencies.
Dubbed by Malcolm X Abram in the Akron Beacon Journal as "unfussy, power-chord loving rockers," the band initially formed in 2015, dissolved in 2016, and reformed in 2018 with the core group of Corey Jenkins, John Rosenberg, Mike Karl, Shaun Berringer and Chris Burton.
Joined this time by Samantha Grace (in Burton's stead), the band will take The Rialto stage for the first time since 2019 to run through the best of its catalog and will feature special appearances by Akron-sound legends Chris Butler and Harvey Gold.
Big Pop
Hailed as a "supergroup" when they first hit the scene in 2021, Big Pop is an ever-evolving musical partnership founded by Jeri Sapronetti and Corey Jenkins.
Big Pop will perform as a full band for the first time since 2023 as part of the Rialto's 10th anniversary festivities. Don't miss this rare opportunity to see them back together doing what they do best.
Time Cat
Time Cat is a raw and explosive rock band from Akron, Ohio, led by guitarist and singer Jeri Sapronetti. Formed in 2011 with drummer Sam Caler, the band grew into a powerful four-piece with the additions of bassist Colten Huffman and guitarist Donald Alan. Their sound fuses the spirit of Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Bowie, and Jefferson Airplane with a fierce modern edge.
Known for their wild, soul-drenched live shows—equal parts gritty rock spectacle and emotional ritual—Time Cat performances are unpredictable, high-voltage experiences that leave crowds buzzing. Over the years, they’ve toured the U.S. relentlessly, released three albums, and shared the stage with legends like Chrissie Hynde & The Pretenders, Muse, and Fantastic Negrito.
After breaking up in 2021, the band reunited in early 2024 and is currently re-recording their fourth album, Low Flow, set for release in 2025.
"I want to say thank you for keeping ’the thing' alive. I suspect there will be a new wave of bands coming along in these barren times, you at the forefront, and you have given me that hope."
— Chrissie Hynde
Akronauts
Akronauts formed in March of 2019. The best word to describe their show is FUN and they don't take themselves too seriously. They are a high-energy act combining multiple styles including rock, alternative, punk, funk and grunge. They bring a lively performance with songs that are meant for a broad audience and can play to any crowd. Akronauts are loud! Their music isn't meant for a chill crowd or a small, quiet setting and wouldn't be considered "background music". They will get you on your feet and get you moving.
Phantom Lease
Phantom Lease, Jacob Trombetta and Brenden Vencel, met while working on algorithms to inspect beer cans. Brenden wanted to make ska, Jacob wanted to make new age music, so they combined forces to make neither. Mary Riley joined the band for the upcoming album Goldline my Coffin, in order to scream about the things that make a middle aged suburban woman angry.

This year, The Angie Haze Annual Time Machine Shows will honor our beloved Luck Dragon, Reggio Geppetto.
To celebrate the unconditional love our furry companions give us, we’ll have a memory board where you can add photos of pets who’ve crossed over the rainbow. In a time that feels isolating, confusing, and heavy, we want to reflect on the love that never leaves us—the kind our animals model so effortlessly. They are our teachers. If we can carry just a fraction of that love into our daily lives, relationships, and communities, I truly believe we can build a world rooted in compassion, understanding, forgiveness, and peace.
These shows are part of The Rialto Theatre’s 10-Year Anniversary Celebration, happening on:
• Thursday, May 22 – featuring special guests JT’s Electrik Blackout
• Friday, May 23 – with The Cuyahoga Valley Community Chorus and special guests Angry Cow Poetry and Tamar Sara
Two nights. Two different setlists. Two different experiences. Come sing with us in a space where all are welcome—no matter who you are or where you come from. We love you the same way Reggio loved us. These shows are also a doorway into The Story of The Time Thief—my upcoming music memoir project about transformation through trauma. Join us in the early stages of a sacred story—a return to voice, to spirit, and to something far beyond ourselves.
Angie Haze
“I am The Time Thief. My survivor story will prompt an inner awakening for those who listen. It’s not a musical performance. It’s a remembrance of the before and beyond.” - Angie Haze
Angie Haze isn’t just a singer-songwriter; she’s a sonic architect, a storyteller who bends time and genre with her evocative sound. An award-winning, queer-fronted act, Haze crafts music for the survivor—giving voice to those who have endured childhood sexual abuse and sexual violence. Her songs are anthems of resilience, a call to the unheard, and a force for change—championing equality, Mother Earth, and the Animal Kingdom.
A multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer, Haze has created a genre of her own: Creepop—a mesmerizing fusion of haunting vocal harmonies, infectious melodies, and eerie yet whimsical textures. Imagine the surreal magic of a Tim Burton film colliding with the eccentric charm of Willy Wonka, and you’ll begin to grasp the atmosphere she conjures. Her music isn’t just something to listen to—it’s something to see, feel, and experience.
Her electrifying live performances, backed by her powerhouse Bandfam—Chrissiper Dudley, André Frazier, Justin Tibbs, and Rachel Osherow—are a spiritual, mind-bending journey. Together, they weave four-part harmonies with layers of saxophone, drums, keyboards, guitars, bass, and a palette of Earthquaker Devices, creating an immersive soundscape that defies convention. “We are more than just bandmates,” Haze says. “We are family, and we want nothing more than to show how music fosters unity in times of adversity and empathy for all.”

Beach City Postal Service
“Beach City Postal Service is rock n roll from the heartlands of Beach City, Ohio. And they in fact have heart. Their rural Midwest roots and everyday headaches and heartaches are mythologized with every soaring harmony and scratchy guitar. Influence from The Replacements and CSNY is obvious, but the four-piece leads with their own guts. Something undeniable happens when the boys from Beach City lock horns.”

As a veteran studio and touring guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Shannon’s over 30-year career has taken him from his hometown of Akron, Ohio, to Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, and back again. A friend connected him with Northeast Ohio’s favorite son, Michael Stanley, sparking a musical partnership, decades-long mentorship and friendship with Michael's band, The Resonators. There, he was a featured instrumentalist, vocalist, and co-writer, appearing on 23 releases in the 25 years of his tenure until Stanley's passing in 2021.
He has released four solo albums and multiple singles, and vows to keep working. In a recent interview, he said he would “never quit no matter what” but rather “just stay standing and keep creating.”
His 2024 release, Marc Lee Shannon and My Other Brothers is now available on all streaming platforms, as well as his website, marcleeshanon.com.
Rounding out the trio for the evening will be Michael Weber (The Michael Weber Show) and Kurt Anshutz (Easton Union)

Bob and Kathleen have moved on but Today Point of No Return continues to provide award nominated improv entertainment for the people of the Akron area. Think of PNR as the micro brew to whose line is it anyways brand name. To be clear this is metaphorical beer, Point of No Return doesn't currently make a beer. Rialto does serve actual beers though so in a way we all win.

The duo blend influences from new wave, oldies, post-punk, prog rock, and nostalgia-inducing ambient music. Their songs have been played on Alt Cleveland and WZIP, and they recently opened for British singer-songwriter Ollie Wride. Yoga Music
Yoga Music is an experimental-pop solo effort from Nathan Foster based out of Cleveland, OH. Foster borrows musical ideas from The Radio Dept., Panda Bear, and Yo La Tengo, to produce something that adheres Krautrock concepts of repetition to bottle cap aphorisms. An analog drum pulse drives fuzzy guitars and chime-y melodies, all tied together using some sort of magical electronic circuitry. Critically, every sound is live except for one Anita Baker sample. Eleven recorded tracks can be heard on Trash, Etc., the debut album by Yoga Music streaming on yogamusic.bandcamp.com, including BetaMax, 5EVILLIVE5, and Guns, Germs, and Steely Dan. Songwriters Round with
Charlotte Morris, Kayla Dunbar, and Maura Streppa
Charlotte Morris
Charlotte Morris is a Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter, whose autobiographical music weaves together a unique blend of Americana, Folk, Jazz, and more. Her soaring vocals and keen songwriting, often compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Liz Longley, and Eva Cassidy, create an intimate and vulnerable listening experience. When you see Charlotte live, it's like having a deep conversation with an old friend - personal, authentic, and familiar - and almost always with a few laughs and a few tears.
Growing up outside of Philadelphia, Charlotte discovered her love for music early on, taking up multiple instruments starting at age 4, and embracing songwriting by age 12. Influenced by female artists like Brandi Carlile, Judy Collins, and Sara Bareilles, she joined the Lonesome Traveler folk tour in 2018, touring alongside Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, George Grove, and more. Since then, Charlotte has released various singles and EPs, including "To New York, with Love" and "Sputnik," [produced by Grammy winner, Mitch Dane]. Her 2020 debut album, "Songs For My Next Ex," showcased her diverse talents and raw songwriting.
Relocating to Nashville in 2021, Charlotte began working with producer William Gawley, of Charlotte Avenue Entertainment, and released the poignant "Good Kind of Hurt" in 2022, addressing addiction and PTSD. This was followed by the folk-infused "Tennessee" and empowering "Your Number One." In September 2023, her second studio album, "Wild Child," made waves globally, resonating with audiences and charting internationally. While spending most of 2024 on the road touring her album across North America to 30+ cities, Charlotte came to the realization that it was time to head back to her roots. Making the decision to return to the east coast, Charlotte is refocusing her energy on what she loves most: performing live.

Great Day for Ducks
What all started as a joke between the group’s principal songwriters - Sean Charles & Dave James - their freshmen year of high school, stayed that way for more than a decade as the two faded in and out of touch, and of creative projects alike.
Now alive and kicking, it looks like yet again the joke is on them. As roughly a dozen years later, Great Day for Ducks finally takes the form of something real and undeniably genuine. With Cody Smith (Lead Guitar), Drew Wheeler (Bass Guitar), and Nick Fondale (Drums) in the middle of it, the band writes with the spirit of Adult Contemporary’s early crooners (think Bread and Bruce Hornsby) - fused with the nostalgic appeal of 21st century acts like Pinegrove and Dawes.
The Applewhites
Hailing from Kent, Ohio, The Applewhites (Alternative Rock band) were formed in 2021 by Cory DiDonato (Drummer) and Jacob Hill (Lead Vocalist/Guitar). Quickly joined by Kyle Galloway (Lead Guitar), Jesse Britt (Bass), and Austin Brown (Organ/Vocals), the band solidified their blend of 60’s/70’s inspired Rock ‘n’ Roll. In 2023, they released their debut album “Thumbnail Moon EP,” followed by their second release, "Enjoy," in August 2024. Drawing inspiration from old school punk/ hardcore madness, early 70s psychedelic disassociation and mind bending progressive rock. Inpatient creates the visceral and primal landscape only seen in books and movies
The DollyHoppers
Soleo
Soleo came together after vocalist/guitarist Amir Gholizadeh created and shared his own bizarre guitar-tuning style with his now-bandmates Tynan Evans (bass) and Nick Golias (drums). That, and a concept about Gholizadeh’s family history, became the inspiration for their unconventional sound, oftentimes labeled as "Middle Eastern progressive rock."
The band merges western progressive motifs and a dash of metal with traditional Persian music Gholizadeh grew up listening to. Their self-titled debut album, "Soleo", has the cinematic feeling of classics like The Wall and Tommy, though to say they necessarily sound like those bands or like their progressive contemporaries is imprecise.
The album, which was released on Tragic Hero Records, is inspired by the true story of Gholizadeh’s family fleeing their home country after it was overtaken by extremists. While it follows that specific journey, the band also says the music functions as a standalone concept. Gholizadeh explains, “To say this is exclusively my family’s story would be short-sighted. A lot of people leave their homes and start a new life somewhere else — some of them under better circumstances and others under worse. So, although the story is unique, the concepts are pretty universal. Our hope is that people will draw their own stories from these songs.”

ARREIS
Touring Nashville Artist ARREIS is making a dramatic mark on the world of pop music. ARREIS began her music career at the young age of four when her mom said she had to take piano lessons until she was eighteen. After years of keys and several other instruments, including violin, clarinet, and bassoon, she began to write and compose her own music. She studied music in LA and while there, wrote her first album, "Blindside", which was released in the beginning of December 2020 just before relocating to Nashville. Only a few months after moving, she is already dominating all the local spots, including Kimbros, Puckett's of Leiper's Fork, The Bluebird Cafe, The Commodore Grill, the Mockingbird Theatre and Alley Taps. She has an established studio that she is recording music with, an amazing group of musicians that she feels blessed to call her band, and she has no intentions of slowing down until her message is heard. The concept of “synesthesia” was introduced to ARREIS in college when she was writing her first record, "Blindside". When asked to describe the album, she would always use color-based terms, and overwhelmingly, "Blindside" was associated with various shades of purple. From soft, nostalgic lavender to the bruises of violet, "Blindside" demonstrates the idea that being vulnerable and opening up to people are some of the hardest acts to accomplish. In her most recent record released in 2023, "Vices", ARREIS takes on the human condition and dives deeply into the issue that everyone has dealt with at some point in their lives– the fact that everyone has a little darkness.

Blue Hour
With their twangy and introspective songwriting, Blue Hour has been cultivating a growing fanbase since the release of their EP, “A Long Time Ago” in 2022.
Their debut album, “This Is the Dream” journeys through high energy anthems, psychedelic nods, and intimate tracks that show how vulnerable the group can be.
The 4 piece creates a dynamic and eclectic sound; like an emotive force packed with ethereal guitars and ear worm melodies. Blue Hour is Justin Mills (Vocals/Guitar), Trevor Matthews (Guitar/Pedal Steel), Kevin Vinci (Bass), and Matt Modena (Drums).

Expect a night of explosive guitar and organ solos alongside drums and bass grooves to get the audience dancing.
