FRUITFLY / COMMON MOLLY / DISHWASHER POSSUM / THE HEAVY FORGIVENESS - 10/9/23

  • The Rialto Theatre 1000 Kenmore Boulevard Akron, OH 44314 United States (map)

Fruitfly

Fruitfly is an emo band still trying to figure out how to write emo songs based out of Cleveland, Ohio. Combining disparate influences from emo and noise pop acts like The Brave Little Abacus and Weatherday to solo bedroom acts like Car Seat Headrest and Dayglow, Fruitfly's music pairs melancholic lyrics with intricate instrumentals to make a compelling new sound. Fruitfly began as front man Kyle Thompson's solo project in 2020 and he recorded and self-released Fruitfly's debut album Running On Fumes in July of 2021. In the time since, the project has grown into a five-piece band playing energetic sets that switch on a dime between blistering bangers and introspective ballads. The band is aiming to release their second album in late 2023.

Common Molly

Common Molly is an eclectic rock band, blending sounds from punk, funk, and the blues. Coming from Grand Rapids they are on tour to support their debut album.

Dishwasher Possum

The Heavy Forgiveness

Following a decade slugging it out in the greater Cleveland metropolitan area's basements and bars with Flipcoin, The You Suck Flying Circus, The Bears & The Bees, Jason Kaminski, and Total Downer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ben Wolgamuth made a record he always wanted to make: big hooks, tough guitars, and grindy synth leads cradle the emotionally vulnerable, self-deprecating-but-not-quite-sardonic songwriting he's made his calling card. The Heavy Forgiveness is Wolgamuth with five of his most trusted conspirators, working diligently to bring the emotional highs of big rock and roll to life before your very eyes!
