In December, The Rialto Theatre welcomed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kristoffer Carter back to the stage after a 13-year hiatus from playing. Carter was joined by some powerhouse guests from the NE Ohio music scene, including Al Mothersbaugh (Massive Hotdog Recall), Harvey Gold (Tin Huey) and Chris Butler (Tin Huey, The Waitresses, Dave Rich and his Enablers). Carter’s powerful duets with his daughter Elliott Carter (DETENTION) went so well, they’re back for a special co-headlining show.
Elliott Carter is the front woman and singer for DETENTION, a high-energy pop-punk/alt-rock band from Ohio that headlined the Athens Halloween Block Party at Ohio University with 3,000 + crowd-surfing fans. The band has established a regional presence in Columbus, Toledo, Bowling Green, Athens and Pittsburgh. Fans drive over 5 hours to catch their shows. SiriusXM Faction Punk regularly plays 56 Minutes, Faded, Not Jaded and Good + Ready.
DETENTION headlined the 2023 PorchRokr festival and has performed at the WonderStruck, WonderBus WonderRoad, BloomFest, Brite Winter and LAUNCH Music Conference & Festival. They won the Best Punk Band at the Cleveland Music Awards in 2022 and 2023.
The Kristoffer Carter Show is the power-amplifier of KC— a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. The show features tight songs, high-energy delivery, and guitar and bass grooves that bounce from frenetic strums to percussive finger-picking and back. Elliott joined her band DETENTION when she was just 11. Their family travels to support their daughter's shows throughout the Midwest and SXSW. Carter has continued to write songs and produce. "Whenever Elliott is home, we share music. Lately, it feels like we push one another other to make a living with music, art, or writing.
