On Friday Sept. 1, 5 - 10 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 2, noon - 5 p.m., Kenmore Boulevard will host Better Block, a neighborhood engagement event that lets residents visualize what's possible in an area in terms of livability and business development. Better Block events are meant to give people a glimpse of redevelopment ideas for a couple of days. Temporary changes might include closing lanes of traffic and establishing a bike lane, creating "pop-up" storefronts and sidewalk cafes, and adding a community gathering space. It's all meant to spark ideas of how to transform a neighborhood into a more livable, walkable and economically viable area.
