Hamell on Trial
Hamell on Trial is the musical alias of folk punk hero Ed Hamell. A one-man acoustic explosion, he is loud-as-war one minute, stepping off the microphone to whisper to an enthralled audience the next. Hamell’s unique and dynamic performance style is informed by politics, passion, intelligence and an irreverent sense of humor.
Ed’s caustic wit and devil-may-care attitude incited Rolling Stone magazine to call him "Bald, bold and super bad." Henry Rollins says, "… he has a real attachment to truth that makes him continually vital.” He was described as a "one man Tarantino flick: loud, vicious, luridly hilarious, gleefully and deeply offensive" by the Village Voice.
Elliot Carter (Off-Leash)
Elliott Carter is the lead singer of Akron Pop-punk band OFF-LEASH (previously known as Detention) and long-time friend of Ed Hamell.
OFF-LEASH was voted Best Punk Band two years straight at the Cleveland Music Awards, headlined their hometown PorchRokr festival (twice) with 3000+ fans, and has performed at the WonderStruck, WonderBus WonderRoad, Bloomfest, Brite Winter and LAUNCH Music Festivals. They’ve recently headlined Ohio University’s massive Halloween Bash for 4000 screaming fans. OFF-LEASH got their start as DETENTION, the youngest band to win the regional High School Rock-Off at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. Carter has been performing as OFF-LEASH’s front-woman since she was just 12 years old, and whether she’s accompanied by her bandmates or just by her acoustic guitar, her infectious energy is something crowds always remember.

My Mom Is Here
My Mom Is Here is what happens when jazz kids form a rock band. Sam Seiff (vocals) and Nick Sare (keys) recruited their Columbia pals Aidan Speckhard (drums), Ryan Daar (bass), and Stephen Park (guitar) to play a rooftop gig with them in 2023.
Ever since, My Mom Is Here has sold out NYC venues like Mercury Lounge, Nublu, and Bowery Electric, garnering praise for their tight musicianship and goofy onstage antics.
The band draws inspiration from classic artists like Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Steely Dan, Fiona Apple, and Stevie Wonder, while keeping a finger on the pulse of the NYC neo-soul scene. (Our keyboard player, Nick, is a founding member of Melt the Band.)
2025 is going to be a big year for My Mom Is Here! The band will release singles all spring, tour in the summer, and debut an EP in the fall.

Angie Haze
“I am The Time Thief. My survivor story will prompt an inner awakening for those who listen. It’s not a musical performance. It’s a remembrance of the before and beyond.” - Angie Haze
Angie Haze isn’t just a singer-songwriter; she’s a sonic architect, a storyteller who bends time and genre with her evocative sound. An award-winning, queer-fronted act, Haze crafts music for the survivor—giving voice to those who have endured childhood sexual abuse and sexual violence. Her songs are anthems of resilience, a call to the unheard, and a force for change—championing equality, Mother Earth, and the Animal Kingdom.
A multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer, Haze has created a genre of her own: Creepop—a mesmerizing fusion of haunting vocal harmonies, infectious melodies, and eerie yet whimsical textures. Imagine the surreal magic of a Tim Burton film colliding with the eccentric charm of Willy Wonka, and you’ll begin to grasp the atmosphere she conjures. Her music isn’t just something to listen to—it’s something to see, feel, and experience.
Jesse Ruben
Jesse Ruben is a singer/songwriter who recently moved to Atlanta after spending the last 15 years in Brooklyn. Best known for his lyrical storytelling and engaging live shows, his songs have been streamed more than 75 million times, have been heard on more than a dozen TV shows in the US and abroad including One Tree Hill, Degrassi, Teen Mom, Switched at Birth, and The Bachelor (Germany). His most recent single "This Is Why I Need You” reached the top 10 in 12 different countries. He has recorded live sessions for NPR and MTV Asia, and has been featured on CNN and PBS.
Beyond his music career, Ruben is highly active in philanthropic endeavors. He has run the NYC Marathon three times for The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, the largest non-profit devoted to spinal cord injuries, and five times to raise money for Lyme disease research. He is also the founder of The We Can Project, an initiative for young students designed to help them discover their passions and give back to their communities. To date, more than 500,000 young people have participated. To promote the program, he was personally invited by Hoda Kotb to perform live on The Today Show.

Jon Garey
Jon Garey is a singer-songwriter who creates introspective ballads, pop-folk and pop-rock songs with a vocal style often being compared to James Taylor and Cat Stevens and others from the early 70's singer/songwriter movement. Jon plays at an array of small venues, radio shows, live streams, and private events in the Northeast Ohio area.
Growing up in a house where there was always singing and music being played on the radio or stereo, it seemed inevitable that music would continue to be an important part of the expression and wonder at the joys and sadnesses of life. Over the years Jon developed an appreciation for music that acts as a vehicle for stories, emotion, and movement in voice, melodies, and harmony.
Now, frequently waking in the early hours of the day before the sun rises with a song snippet in his head, you can often find Jon in the darkened confines of his home studio working on a new idea or refining new tracks for an upcoming release. His discography consists of six releases: Vacation Days (2018), Progenitor (2019), Ours To Keep Forever (2020), Just You And Me (2021), An Echo Of Silence (2022) and Can't Find The Words (2023), a collection of instrumentals, and With Each Day (2024).
Live performances include original material in multiple genres including folk, rock, bluegrass, R&B and ballads. Covers include music from the 60's and beyond.

Karl Batman & The Ohio 94 Band
My name is Karl Batman, self taught guitarist and singer/composer; coming to you guys with my big band “The Ohio 94”! I come from blue collar agrarian roots, and aim to encapsulate the under appreciated Midwestern Heartland culture in my music I write. Distinguished Rock n Roll sound and rhythm paired with Country writing and folk instruments, The Ohio 94 is a sight to see. I am a firm believer that hard living makes the best music; so come show out and have the best time at our appearance at the Rialto this June!

Gas Station Lullabies
Gas Station Lullabies is an independent blues rock quartet hailing from Southern Ohio. Combining a multitude of musical backgrounds and interests, members Noah Clifton (vocals, guitar), Jayden Steele (vocals, keyboard), Blaise Reader III (bass guitar, guitar), and Jakob Stephens (percussion) form a captivating and genuine ensemble that creates a vivid soundscape of their individual musical sensibilities and personal backgrounds.
The band's original material offers up a variety of sounds and storytelling, ranging from sassy and strutting rock pieces full of grit, to vulnerable, airy ballads, as well as cheery, indie ear-worms. Despite the wide range of sonic possibilities that can come from the band's originals, a great sense of cohesion is found in lead songwriter Noah Clifton's poignant-but-relatable lyricism across every piece. And when the band ventures out to a cover tune, the sensible quartet maintains the spirit of the song while bringing their own take and sound to the piece that's recognizably GSL.
Andrew Lee
I'm a relative novice in the Akron music scene. I started out playing covers which led to me writing my own original material. I tend to lean into my personal stories when writing songs. I still love playing covers in fun interesting ways.

John and Lisa Hopswood
John and Lisa Hopswood are a husband and wife singing and songwriting team currently collaborating on original songs that Lisa wrote back when it seemed like her world was falling apart.
She writes thought-provoking lyrics that glimpse the bigger picture, whether she's warning about the dangers of superficial glamor or musing about the self-empowerment that's found through spiritual awakening.
John electrifies her songs and takes them to a whole new level combining his gritty hard-rock edge with softer acoustic sounds. When they're playing together they're the two halves that form one whole.
They hope that you'll join them as they make their debut in the Rialto Living Room.

This year, The Angie Haze Annual Time Machine Shows will honor our beloved Luck Dragon, Reggio Geppetto.
To celebrate the unconditional love our furry companions give us, we’ll have a memory board where you can add photos of pets who’ve crossed over the rainbow. In a time that feels isolating, confusing, and heavy, we want to reflect on the love that never leaves us—the kind our animals model so effortlessly. They are our teachers. If we can carry just a fraction of that love into our daily lives, relationships, and communities, I truly believe we can build a world rooted in compassion, understanding, forgiveness, and peace.
These shows are part of The Rialto Theatre’s 10-Year Anniversary Celebration, happening on:
• Thursday, May 22 – featuring special guests JT’s Electrik Blackout
• Friday, May 23 – with The Cuyahoga Valley Community Chorus and special guests Angry Cow Poetry and Tamar Sara
Two nights. Two different setlists. Two different experiences. Come sing with us in a space where all are welcome—no matter who you are or where you come from. We love you the same way Reggio loved us. These shows are also a doorway into The Story of The Time Thief—my upcoming music memoir project about transformation through trauma. Join us in the early stages of a sacred story—a return to voice, to spirit, and to something far beyond ourselves.
Her electrifying live performances, backed by her powerhouse Bandfam—Chrissiper Dudley, André Frazier, Justin Tibbs, and Rachel Osherow—are a spiritual, mind-bending journey. Together, they weave four-part harmonies with layers of saxophone, drums, keyboards, guitars, bass, and a palette of Earthquaker Devices, creating an immersive soundscape that defies convention. “We are more than just bandmates,” Haze says. “We are family, and we want nothing more than to show how music fosters unity in times of adversity and empathy for all.”
